Offensive Subjects: Nearly everything is okay by me, though some topics (that rarely come up in RP games, thankfully) are a no go. If they show up, I'll say something.

Injuring this character: I am okay with this with planning!

Powers: Jor-El is a Kryptonian, and is thus a flying brick with laser vision, even if he's not going to be experienced with it at all at first.
